Music, Poetry, and Film at the Smithsonian
Please join us on Saturday, July 22 from 2 to 4 pm for an afternoon of historic Afghan music by Tabla For Two, poetry by Afghanistan’s prominent artist/poet, Hamid Naweed and the launch of a documentary film exploring Ahmad Zahir’s life and legacy. Zahir is one of Afghanistan’s most famous musicians.
The Freer Sackler building is currently undergoing renovation, so please enter through the Haupt Garden (accessible entrance) for the event. For details and further directions see the Smithsonian’s Freer and Sackler Galleries website.
Life is a Circus!
In honor of the Smithsonian’s Folk Life Festival this summer (2017) dedicated to the circus arts, Tabla for Two was inspired to compile this fun video, pairing our music with a beautiful trapeze performance.
Song arrangement by Masood Omari. Music recorded and mixed by Conrad Osipowicz at Blue Room Productions
